Luján Applauds Nomination of Former Senator Tom Udall as U.S. Ambassador to New Zealand and Samoa
Washington, D.C. – U.S. Senator Ben Ray Luján (D-N.M.) issued the following statement applauding President Biden’s nomination of former U.S. Senator Tom Udall to serve as U.S. Ambassador to New Zealand and Samoa:
“President Biden’s nomination of a statesman like Senator Tom Udall to serve as a U.S. Ambassador shows a strong commitment to restoring America’s leadership around the globe. Senator Udall is a friend and mentor who has devoted his life to public service and fighting for New Mexico families as New Mexico’s Attorney General, Congressman, and Senator. As a respected voice on both sides of the aisle on foreign policy, I am confident that Senator Udall will continue working to promote democracy and diplomacy,” said Luján. “I look forward to confirming Senator Udall to this new diplomatic post, and I know that New Mexicans are proud to see Tom and Jill continue their service to the nation.”
