Heinrich, Luján, Leger Fernández Welcome $7.5 Million Federal Investment To Improve Airport Infrastructure In Farmington
WASHINGTON (June 1, 2022) — U.S. Senators Martin Heinrich (D-N.M.) and Ben Ray Luján (D-N.M.) and U.S. Representative Teresa Leger Fernández (D-N.M.) are welcoming $7.5 million in grant funding from the U.S. Department of Transportation (DOT). This federal funding will be used by the City of Farmington to upgrade taxiways at Four Corners Regional Airport.
“Local airports like Four Corners Regional are key economic drivers for our state,” said Heinrich. “This grant will make sure Four Corners Regional is able to best serve New Mexicans, while maintaining the highest levels of safety and efficiency.”
“New Mexico’s local airports are critical in supporting our state’s economy and connecting communities,” said Luján. “I’m pleased to welcome this strong investment of $7.5 million to Farmington to renovate the taxiways at Four Corners Regional Airport — ensuring safer flights for passengers coming in and out of New Mexico.”
“The Four Corners Regional airport serves the Farmington community and is a key transportation hub for business, tourism, and family travel. This funding will help with the demands of this airport and improve the infrastructure to help our economy grow for decades to come,” said Leger Fernández.
DOT is awarding a total of $7,500,000 in the form of a discretionary grant to the City of Farmington for improvements at Four Corners Regional Airport. The funding will be used to enhance airport safety through the reconfiguration of existing taxiways.
