Luján Statement on Bipartisan Gun Reform Framework

Washington D.C. – Today, U.S. Senator Ben Ray Luján (D-N.M.) issued the following statement on the Bipartisan Gun Reform Framework:

“Finally, the day has come when we can look our nation’s children in the eye and tell them we are acting to help end the gun violence epidemic in our country,” said Senator Luján. “Today, Senators Murphy and Cornyn announced a legislative framework, led by group of bipartisan Senators, to strengthen gun laws and invest in mental health treatment to save lives.”

Luján continued, “In New Mexico, 433 people on average are lost to gun violence every year. Today, I am thinking of them and all Americans who we have lost. We must finally and properly honor their memory through meaningful action. I look forward to working with my colleagues to review and advance this framework to protect our communities.”
