Heinrich, Luján Welcome Over $215,000 To Support Emergency Rural Health Care Services In New Mexico 

WASHINGTON – U.S. Senators Martin Heinrich (D-N.M.) and Ben Ray Luján (D-N.M.) are welcoming $215,199 in federal investments to support emergency and mental health care services in several rural New Mexico communities. 

U.S. Department of Agriculture Rural Development is awarding a total of $183,700 to Mental Health Resources, Inc. (MHR), in Clovis to purchase laptops, speakers, micro phones, webcams, and training services to support telehealth assistance in Fort Sumner ($76,100), Portales ($47,900), and Tucumcari ($59,700); and $31,499 to the City of Socorro to purchase an ambulance for the Socorro fire department.

“These federal investments will strengthen health care services in our rural communities and address both emergency and mental health needs,” said Heinrich. “I’m pleased to welcome this funding and will continue fighting for investments that expand health care for communities across the state.”

“New Mexicans in rural communities often face long, unnecessary drive times in order to get the medical care they need,” said Luján. “That’s why I’m proud to welcome these investments in ambulances and telehealth resources to help expand access to health care services in our rural communities that need them the most.”
