Heinrich, Luján, Stansbury Call For Climate Action In Build Back Better Plan During Press Conference Outside U.S. Capitol
WASHINGTON (Oct. 20, 2021) – Today, U.S. Senators Martin Heinrich (D-N.M.) and Ben Ray Luján (D-N.M.) and U.S. Representative Melanie Stansbury (D-N.M.) joined a bicameral group of lawmakers, the League of Conservation of Voters, Climate Power, and the Climate Action Campaign for a press conference highlighting the need to tackle the climate crisis through the Build Back Better Plan.
During the conference, Senator Heinrich expressed that when it comes to climate action “we can’t wait any longer.” Heinrich continued, “This is our moment to build back better. This is our moment to meet the challenges that we will be judged by – by our children, and our grandchildren, and future generations. We can’t fail and we can’t wait. Let’s get this done and let’s build back better.”
“Tackling the climate crisis – saving our Mother Earth – is not just the right thing to do; it will create jobs, healthier communities, and lower energy costs for our families. Now is the time to act. It’s time to get this done and deliver for the American people,” said Luján.
“New Mexico communities are on the front line of climate change,” said Stansbury.“Before President Biden arrives at the UN Climate Conference in Glasgow, Congress must give our delegation the tools they need to lead by passing the Build Back Better Act. I was proud to stand with climate champions like Senator Heinrich and Senator Luján and the League of Conservation Voters, Climate Power, and the Climate Action Campaign to add my voice to our communities demanding that the federal government step up. This is our moment—the world is watching. We must take climate action now in the Build Back Better Act.”
Senators Heinrich and Luján and Representative Stansbury are fighting for investments in the Build Back Better Plan that meet the challenges of the climate crisis, create good-paying jobs, and reduce costs for families.
