Luján Announces $62 Million for 74 New Mexico Projects in First Appropriations Package

Washington, D.C. – Today, U.S. Senator Ben Ray Luján (D-N.M.) announced that he secured $62,796,064 for 74 projects across New Mexico in the minibus package covering six subcommittees. The projects Senator Luján secured funding for include investments in public safety, agriculture, behavioral health services, affordable housing, military installations, and acequia and water infrastructure upgrades.

“Today, I’m proud to announce Congressionally Directed Spending will soon be heading to New Mexico as part of the first package of appropriations bills. Each of these projects represent a critical need where federal funding can make a difference for New Mexicans in every corner of the state, including our rural and Tribal communities,” said Senator Luján. “This initial appropriations package includes much-needed investments to boost the agriculture industry, support public safety efforts, improve health care, maintain our acequias and water infrastructure, and so much more.”

“I look forward to working with my colleagues on both sides of the aisle to pass this legislation and avoid a government shutdown,” continued Senator Luján. “I am hopeful that Congress can pass additional appropriations to meet the next funding deadline and avoid the chaos that would follow another shutdown threat.”
