Luján Encourages New Mexicans to Apply for the Paycheck Protection Program After Voting to Extend the Program
Washington, D.C. – U.S. Senator Ben Ray Luján (D-N.M.) issued the following statement after the Senate voted to extend the Paycheck Protection Program (PPP) by two months. The bipartisan legislation passed the House earlier this month and now heads to the president’s desk.
“The Paycheck Protection Program has been an important lifeline for small businesses during the COVID-19 pandemic – and it’s help kept the doors open for small businesses, restaurants, and mom-and-pop shops. Following today’s bipartisan vote, I look forward to President Biden signing this PPP extension into law to help thousands of New Mexico small businesses cover expenses, keep employees on the payroll, and begin to recover and rebuild,” said Luján. “I urge small business owners to take advantage of this extension, and my office stands ready to assist New Mexicans in applying for PPP loans.”
