Luján Hosts Panel Discussion with Leaders from The White House, State and Local Governments on the American Rescue Plan
Nambé, N.M. – Today, U.S. Senator Ben Ray Luján (D-N.M.) hosted a panel discussion with leaders from the White House and state and local governments highlighting how the American Rescue Plan helps New Mexicans recover and rebuild from the COVID-19 pandemic. The panel included White House Office of Intergovernmental Affairs Director Julie Chávez Rodríguez, New Mexico Finance and Administration Secretary Debbie Romero, Rio Rancho Mayor Gregg Hull, and Bernalillo County Clerk Linda Stover, who discussed implementation of the American Rescue Plan and how federal dollars will benefit local communities.
“It was an honor to bring together these distinguished state and national leaders and hear how the American Rescue Plan is already making a difference in New Mexico,” said Luján. “This public health crisis has burdened our city and county governments by causing budget shortfalls and economic hurdles. The American Rescue Plan will help New Mexico address these challenges by delivering over $2 billion in relief to our state, including an estimated $700 million to local governments. This new law will invest in every corner of New Mexico, and I look forward to continue working with each one of these leaders to deliver critical relief to help New Mexicans recover and rebuild from the COVID-19 pandemic.”
